Captain Joe Pretre (left) was awarded the Aglaia Club Fire Fighter of the Year during the 99th Annual Commerce Chamber Banquet on Feb. 21. Pretre started with the City of Commerce in 1989 as a police officer and transferred to the fire department permanently in 1994. He was promoted to lieutenant in 1995 and to captain in 1999. He is also an arson investigator, a certified building inspector and is currently working on his EMT certification. Shown presenting the award is Alicia Wittkopf.
