Mindy Conley was presented the 2007 Distinguished Healthcare Worker award by the Presbyterian Hospital of Commerce Auxiliary at the 99th Annual Commerce Chamber of Commerce Banquet Feb. 21.
The award is given each year to a person who exemplifies outstanding performance and continued improvement of healthcare services in Commerce.
“It was especially difficult this year for the committee to select just one individual, because they had several excellent nominees from whom to choose,” said presenter Betty Bedgood. “This year’s recipient, Mindy Conley, definitely exemplifies outstanding performance.”
As business office supervisor in the Patient Financial Services Department, she is usually the first person most people who enter the Commerce hospital see, according to Bedgood.
“Immediately she makes them feel comfortable and at ease,” she said. “She goes out of her way to provide assistance and then to notify the proper department in the hospital. Mindy definitely makes a positive impression on visitors and clients at the hospital.”
Conley was cited for being willing to fill in wherever needed, concern for employees, clients and volunteers alike,” Bedgood said.
“Although her workload is crowded, she is never too busy to provide whatever assistance a client of the hospital may need,” she said. “She carries out her duties in a manner which not only demands excellence from herself, but also from those whom she supervises.”
Conley is frequently involved in seminars and workshops which help to assure improvement in the process. She has held her current position since 1999, and has been employed in the department since 1989.
Conley was actually ill and unable to be at the banquet to accept the award. Teresa McNeil, associate administrator of Presbyterian Hospital of Commerce, accepted it for her.
