Fire destroys house on Lee Street

By Jay Strickland
Journal Editor

No one was hurt in a house fire that occurred in the 1300 block of Lee Street Thursday morning.

According to Cpt. Joe Pretre of the Commerce Fire Department, the house was vacant, but was fully involved when firefighters arrived on the scene.

Commerce FD got the call at 6:22 a.m. and by around 8:30 a.m. had the fire completely under control, Pretre said.

“That means the fire was just basically hot spots left,” Pretre said.

Firefighters cleared the scene by 10 a.m.

Campbell Volunteer Fire Department provided mutual during the blaze.
