Commerce ISD candidate profiles

Five individuals have filed for the Commerce Independent School District;s Board of Trustee election scheduled for May 9.

Two individuals are running Place 7, incumbent Medley Wilson and challenger Hector Arce.

Three individuals are running for the vacated Place 6 position. Randy Starks, Emma Martin and Elva Resendez are vying for the seat on the board.

Medley Wilson was elected to the Board in 2006. He is supervisor of plant management at L-3 Communications having worked there for 26 years. He and his wife Barbara have two children, both graduates of the District.

Hector Arce is a program manager for L-3 Communications. He and his wife Sharon have two children in Commerce schools.

Randy Starks is a senior sales representative for Solvay Pharmaceuticals. He and his wife Karen have a son who is a sophomore at Commerce High School.

Emma Martin is an art teacher at Wolfe City ISD. She has been an educator for 32 years and has five children who graduated from Commerce High School.

Elva Resendez is a 15-year employee of Texas A&M University-Commerce, currently serving as the communications coordinator for undergraduate admissions. She and her husband Danny have one child attending Commerce Elementary School.
