Assaults, disturbances, fires reported during past week

Police officers and emergency responders in Commerce spent the past week answering multiple reports of assaults, disturbances and fires, among other calls.
The latest list from the Commerce Police Department dispatch covers the period between 6 a.m. Nov. 12 and 4:59 a.m. Wednesday.
Assaults were reported in the 800 block of Sycamore at 1:52 p.m. Nov. 12, in the 1100 block of Sycamore at 3:34 p.m. Sunday, and the 2400 block of Westgate at 10:53 p.m. Tuesday.
There were 12 reported disturbances; including two in the 1900 block of Hickory at 9:40 p.m. Saturday, with one involving weapons.
There was a fight reported in the 800 block of Park at 6 a.m. Saturday and injured persons reported in the 2200 block of Taylor at 10:06 p.m. Saturday and in the 2000 block of Jackson at 8:19 p.m. Sunday.
A house fire was reported in the 11000 block of Earl at 4:49 p.m. Saturday and a brush fire reported at the intersection of County Road 4511 and State Highway 224 at 12:28 a.m. Tuesday. The Commerce Fire Department was called out to assist the Hopkins County Fire Department at 10:24 a.m. Monday. A structure fire was reported in the 1200 block of Earl at 5:09 p.m. Sunday, but firefighters were only listed at the scene for eight minutes. Another 16 fire alarms, all disregarded, were reported during the week.
Residential burglaries were listed in the 2200 block of Mayor at 2:39 p.m. Nov. 12 and in the 900 block of North Neal at 5:54 p.m. Friday. An unspecified burglary was reported in the 700 block of North Washington at 11:36 a.m. Saturday. There were five reported burglary alarms.
There were 40 traffic-related reports during the past week, along with 10 ambulance/medical calls, four accidents, four motorist assists, three reckless drivers, two intoxicated drivers, a helicopter standby and a blocked roadway.
Officers met complainants 15 times; investigated 14 calls of suspicious vehicles, persons or activity; conducted 10 escorts; checked on four welfare concerns; investigated four reported thefts; performed three warrant services; transported prisoners twice and did two area checks.
There was one call each during the past week of narcotics, assist Hunt County, crowd control, mutual aid, special assignment, public intoxication, 911 hang-up, theft of service, open residence and suicidal person.
