CPD Chief Kerry Crews stated that they don't believe the suspect is in the area anymore, and that he might have left in a vehicle after seeing the hospital security guard step outside the building. CPD has thoroughly searched the area, including unoccupied buildings, and still has an officer on patrol. CPD has called up their D-shift early so that they can maintain police presence in the area.

Three CISD campuses (Commerce Middle School, Commerce High School and A.C. Williams) are no longer under modified lockdown, according to CISD Director of Personnel and Communications Ludonna Smithers. Commerce Elementary is still under modified lockdown. The decision to lift the lockdowns was made on the advice of CISD SRO Joe Venable, who is working in conjunction with the CPD.
