Carlton Cooper placed on administrative leave

COMMERCE — Texas A&M University-Commerce Athletic Director Carlton Cooper has been placed on paid administrative leave indefinitely, according to Associate Vice President of Marketing Communications Randy Jolly.

“Carlton Cooper is currently on paid administrative leave for an undetermined amount of time to deal with some personal matters,” Jolly said. “During this time, Judy Sackfield, the associate athletic director, is continuing the work of identifying areas of improvement within the department and overseeing the success of summer camps and recruiting efforts in preparation for the 2012-2013 season.”

Cooper came to A&M-Commerce in 2007 after working for Southern Methodist University for nine years. Sackfield began working at A&M-Commerce in 2008 after 10 years at the University of Alabama-Birmingham.
