A Greenville resident was taken into custody after he was found with a large quantity of drugs in a hotel in Commerce.
On June 5, the combined Special Response Team of the Commerce and Texas A&M University-Commerce Police Departments executed a drug search warrant in a hotel room on the 3000 block of Highway 24.
Detectives found a large quantity of drugs, approximately 2.5 pounds of marijuana, 20 grams of cocaine, and three grams of a substance the department believed to be “cheese”. Cheese is a term for a drug that is a mixture of heroin and Tylenol PM.
The suspect, who is 34-years-old, was booked at the CPD and charged with possession of marijuana over four ounces but under five pounds with intent to deliver, a third degree felony. He was also charged with the manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance penalty group 1 with four to 200 grams, which carries with it a first degree felony.
According to the CPD, additional charges are pending due the results from the lab on the other substances found inside the hotel room.
The name of the individual has not yet been released. He is being transferred to the Hunt County Jail for arraignment.
