Fundraiser to support Commerce charities

COMMERCE — The Thalian Culture Club Foundation is hosting its 47th annual fundraiser – a silent and live auction – on Aug. 2 at 6 p.m. at Sand Hills Country Club in Commerce.

The annual event is the organization’s only fundraiser of the year, and supports numerous local charitable efforts, as well as provides scholarship opportunities for eligible seniors from Commerce High School.  This year’s theme is “Tailgating with Thalians” and guests are encouraged to wear their favorite team apparel.

Some of the local charities supported by the Foundation include the Northeast Texas Children’s Museum, scholarships and school supplies for Commerce ISD students, Commerce Schools Educational Enrichment Foundation, Commerce Lil’ Angels, Commerce Literacy Project, Commerce Public Library, Parks and Recreation, and funding for downtown Christmas decorations.

“We invite our community to our fundraiser to not only enjoy food, festivities and fellowship, but to help us raise funds that we donate 100 percent back into our community.  The auctions are a fun away to support the organization while getting something in return,” said Donna Spinato, Thalian president.

“In the past items for auction have included garden furniture, home accessories, children’s and baby items, floral arrangements, and artwork. It is a fun evening of joining together with friends and neighbors, while raising funds to better our community,” she added.

For more information, or to donate an item to the auction, please contact Jalinna Jones at or 903-886-5016.
