Children dig into reading at library

COMMERCE — The Commerce Public Library Summer Reading Club is making the summer more interesting for quite a few Commerce children by “encouraging them to Dig Into Reading,” which is the theme for the year.

Enrollment for the Dig Into Reading Summer Reading Club is now at 100 with 45-50 children attending the weekly club programs held at the Commerce Elementary School on Wednesday mornings from 10-11 a.m.

The children enjoyed the scientific antics of Dazzling Dave’s Science Spectacular show “Flare of Air” during the program on June 26.

On July 10 the children enjoyed a visit from the Creature Teacher.

The final program of the summer will be on July 17 with a gardening program and an end-of-club party and prizes.

Several bikes will be given away, too. During the summer, children who have attended the program or come to the library have put their names in a drawing. On July 17, the winners’ names will be drawn and at least three children will take home new bikes. Anyone interested in donating a bike can contact the library at (903) 886-6858 or e-mail: director@commercepubliclibrary.org.
