One contested race today

COMMERCE — 8:18 p.m. Beane: 53 votes. Maxwell: 6 votes in early voting.

As the early voting came to a close, Michael Beane held a strong 53-6 vote against Karen Maxwell.

Bean said he is excited about the good turnout and hopes that it will stay in his favor.

“I am very pleased and quite frankly humbled to have that many votes,” he said. “I hope that the Election Day results continue trending in the same way. I look forward to having an opportunity to serve with a board that is committed to the students and staff of Commerce ISD.”

7:29 p.m. Early voting results in: No one voted early.

Early results for the race for School Board of Trustees Place 3 should come in at 7:30 p.m. between Karen Maxwell and Michael Beane.

Place 3 had been held by J. Russell Armstrong from 2004 until he stepped down last month.
