Search warrant nets arrests and drugs

COMMERCE — Two Commerce residents were arrested and drugs were recovered during a search warrant at a local apartment complex.

On Sept. 3, at approximately 1:20 p.m., Commerce Police Officers went to an apartment in the 200 block of Durham on an investigation of narcotics use.  

Officers observed drug paraphernalia in plain sight and arrested 27-year-old Commerce resident Glen Dell Fisher Jr. and 27-year-old Commerce resident Alicia Diane Powers.  

A subsequent search warrant was executed at the residence where officers found approximately 1 quarter pound of marijuana.  Both Mr. Fisher and Ms. Powers were taken to the Commerce Police Department were they charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana under 5 pounds in a drug free zone.  

Fisher and Powers were subsequently arraigned and plead guilty to Possession of Drug Paraphernalia which is a Class C Misdemeanor. Later both persons were transported to the Hunt County Jail on charges of Possession of Marijuana under 5 pounds in a Drug Free Zone which is a Felony 3 charge.

Both Fisher and Powers have posted a $10,000 bond and have been released while awaiting a trial.
