Arts fest

Commerce ISD will showcase students in a celebration of the visual and performing arts Dec. 7 at Commerce High School and the community is invited to attend.

Superintendent Charlie Alderman said the Winter Arts Festival has become an annual holiday tradition where the choirs, bands, theatre students and artists present their best works to parents and the community.

“We have such great talent in our schools and we also have the staff that can nurture and encourage that talent. We wanted to put forth our best for the community’s enjoyment at this wonderful time of year,” Alderman said.

While choral, band and theatrical performances begin at 6:30 p.m. on stage in the CHS cafetorium, visitors can also see art created by elementary, middle school and high school students in the CHS library. Commercial and handmade items will also be available for sale by local vendors in the Commons Area beginning at 5 p.m.

Vendors wanting to reserve a free booth asked to call Ludonna Smithers at 903 886-3755 or email
