Carolyn Davis

Carolyn Mae Davis, 66, of Ladonia died Aug. 7, 2008, at her home with her loving husband of 48 years at her side. Mrs. Davis had a great love for her heavenly father and was of the Baptist faith.

Carolyn was born Jan. 26, 1942, in Texarkana, Ark., to Jesse James and Hazel Faye Henderson Dolph. She married Don Edward Davis on Jan. 29, 1960, in Texarkana, Texas. Mrs. Davis was a secretary for the Commerce Independent School District for 23 years. She was selected as Mother of the Year and was always very active in the lives of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving husband, Don Edward Davis; daughters Janna Lynn Reel and husband Charlie of Ladonia, Donna Carol Robnett and husband Gary of Commerce, Teresa Ann NIcholson and husband Glenn of Sulphur Springs, Christy Marie White and husband Jason of Honey Grove and Jessica Nicole Gossett and husband Justin of Commerce; sons Don Edward Davis Jr. and Sherry of Greenville and Gary Don Ferrell of Campbell; her mother, Hazel Faye Dolph of Texarkana; two sisters, Patricia Faye Townsend and husband Royce of Nash and Sally Owens; brothers Michael James Dolph and wife Ruth Ann of Texarkana and Charles Dolph; 14 grandchildren, Blake Davis, Tara Sweat, Jamie Reel, Forrest Davis, Jordon NIcholson, Cheyenne White, Lauren Nicholson, Katy White, Jackson Gossett, Tori Reel, Jenna Gossett, Brandi Kemp and Brad Cheney; and five great-grandchildren, Grant Choate, Brayden Sweat, Tana Sweat, Grant Cheney and Aubri Kemp.

She was preceded in death by her father and by one grandson, Taylor Don Davis, in 2006.

A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Commerce with Rev. James Henderson officiating.

Mrs. Davis’ sons and sons-in-law served as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in her name.

Lynch Funeral Service, Greenville, was in charge of arrangements.

Britt States

QUINLAN — Britt Ray States, 23, of the Lake Tawakoni community went to be with his Lord and Savior on Aug. 7, 2008. Funeral services celebrating his life were at 10 a.m. Monday at Ingram Funeral Home with Bro. Adam Williams officiating. Burial followed at 3 p.m. in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Mount Pleasant.

Britt was born May 20, 1985, in Greenville. He was a lifelong resident of the Lake Tawakoni community, graduating from Quinlan High School in 2003. Britt worked as an apprentice electrician for Creative Signs in Greenville.

Known by his family as “Uncle B,” Britt always lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, talking to his family and friends on the phone, rodeo and just being outdoors.

He was loved and will be missed by his mother, Patty States of Wills Point; a daughter, Alexis Rae States of Wills Point; mother of his daughter, Lyndsey Buck of Terrell; big brother Shane Allen States and wife Jessica of Caddo Mills; grandparents Rayford and Thelma Blackburn of Wills Point; nephews Tavin Allen States and Austin Lawrence States, both of Caddo Mills; aunts Barbara Blackburn of Campbell and Susie Regan of Rowlett; an uncle, Danny Blackburn of Campbell; several cousins and Britt’s best friend, Dennis “Country” Cole.

His sister, Misty, preceded him in death.



Dorine Pratt

COOPER — Dorine Pratt, 83, of Klondike died Aug. 10, 2008, at her home. Funeral services were at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the Delta Funeral Home chapel with Terry Bryan officiating. Interment followed in the New Klondike Cemetery.

Daughter of Carter and Ruby Sissell Pratt, she was born Nov. 16, 1924, in Klondike. A lifelong resident of Delta County, she was a homemaker.

Several cousins survive.

Her parents and a brother, Miller Pratt, preceded her in death.
