Netty Nelson

FRISCO — Netty Lynn Johnson Nelson passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving daughters on Nov. 9, 2013, in Frisco.

She was buried Nov. 12 at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Fort Worth beside her late husband, M.B.; her parents and many other family members.

Netty was the last born child of the Johnson family, born in Wise County to Rosa Laird Johnson and Edward Johnson. She attended Fort Worth public schools and graduated from Riverside High School.

When World War II came along, Netty was an inspector of the B24 wings at Convair where she met her future husband, M.B. Nelson. They were married May 29, 1943, in Fort Worth and were married for 55 years until M.B.’s death in 1998.

They parented two daughters, Pamela Lynn Clayton, now of Dallas, and Debra Kay Nelson, now of Frisco.

Netty earned her bachelor of science degree in sociology from East Texas State University. She was active in the First Baptist Church of Commerce for more than 40 years; Psychology Club for 30-plus years; the University Dames, an organization at the University; and she held many officer positions in each of these clubs.

Netty moved to Plano in 2006 to be closer to her daughters where she enjoyed various concerts, plays, movies and weekly lunches with her daughters.

Netty was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. M.B. Nelson.

She is survived by daughters Pamela Lynn Clayton of Dallas and Debra Kay Nelson of Frisco.

Pam and Deby request that any memorials be given to the Dr. M.B. Nelson Endowed Scholarship Fund at Texas A&M University-Commerce or to a favorite charity that feeds hungry children.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Mount Olivet Funeral Home, Fort Worth.
