COMMERCE — Services for Marie Wilkins Kinser were at 10 a.m., Oct. 11, at First Baptist Church in Commerce with the Revs. Jerry Speight, Bill Mills and Wesley McCasland officiating. Interment was at Sonora Cemetery in Fairlie.

Visitation was from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Oct. 10, at R.W. Owens & Son Funeral Home in Wolfe City.

Mrs. Kinser passed away Oct. 8, 2013, in Commerce.

She was born May 25, 1923, to Dave and Golda Wilkins. She married R.D. “Bub” Kinser on Oct. 1, 1938, in Commerce. A longtime resident of Commerce, she was a lifetime member of the Riley Grove Congregational Methodist Church. In addition to singing in church, she pursued her love for gospel music by forming a family music group, traveling and making recordings.

Mrs. Kinser was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Bub Kinser; her parents, Dave and Golda Wilkins; sister Joyce Wilkins Stinson; a brother, Lloyd Wilkins; and great-granddaughter Lauren Marie Crowell.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Mike and Wanda Crowell of Commerce; grandchildren Donna Newkirk and husband Carr of Plano, Rhonda Lloyd and husband Kevin of Murphy, and Grant  Crowell and wife Regina of Commerce; five great-grandchildren; a niece and a nephew.

Pallbearers included Grant Crowell, Carr Newkirk, Kevin Lloyd, Gary Wilkins, James Hardman and Steve Davis. Honorary pallbearers were Jim Baber, James Hawkins, Richard Hill and Durwood Richardson.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff at Oak Manor Nursing Home and Dr. Rick Selvaggi.
