PENSACOLA, Fla. — Led by the tied for 13th-place finish from junior Blake Worden, the Texas A&M University-Commerce men's golf team finished tied for eighth with Delta State at the Emerald Coast Collegiate.
The Lions posted a final round 328 for a 54-hole total of 907 (294-285-328). Host West Florida picked up the team title with an 858 (281-286-291) for a 23-stroke victory over runner-up Georgia College and State University. The Argonauts also had the individual champion as Kyle Scott shot a 10-under 206 (66-70-70) for a two-stroke victory over Brent Witcher of Valdosta State.
Worden shot a five-over par 221 (72-71-78) to lead A&M-Commerce and junior Pinkey Hartline tied for 30th with a 227 (76-69-82). A stroke behind Hartline was junior teammate Eric Westerman, who shot a career-best 54-hole total of 228 (73-69-86) and tied for 37th place honors and sophomore Danny Jun tied for 45th after shooting a 231 (73-76-82). Freshman Ryan Hickey was 78th after shooting a 243 (79-77-87).
Next up for the Lions is the Lone Star Conference Tournament in Thackerville, Okla., starting on April 21.
