Tigers finish 12th at Region II-3A golf tournament

POTTSBORO — Commerce’s Tigers overtook District 10-3A rival Rains to finish 12th on Tuesday at the Region II-3A boys golf tournament at Tanglewood Golf Resort.

Commerce carded a 339 on Tuesday to finish with a 685 team total.

Rains shot rounds of 343 and 356 to finish 13th with a 699.

Longview Spring Hill pulled past Atlanta to claim the team title with a 606 that included rounds of 314 and 292. Atlanta shot rounds of 312 and 317 to finish second at 629.

Jason Fiscus (79-69-148) of Spring Hill won medalist honors as teammate Tim O’Farrell (5-74-149) was second.

Bobby Draughn led Commerce with rounds of 82 and 84 for a 166 total. Other Commerce shooters included Tyler Shepard (88-81-169), Ian Morehouse (91-85-176), Tyler Duncan (88-89-177) and Clayton Giddings (88-90-178).

Jarett Martin fired rounds of 80 and 78 to lead Rains with a 158. Other Rains scores included Tyson Thompson (84-80-174), Colby Hoover (90-85-175), Tyler Cauthon (89-103-192) and Colin Gowin (100-113-213).

Cameron Mims of Royse City (83-79-162) wound up in a tie for 24th place.
