65 Lions receive academic recognition for 2013 spring semester

COMMERCE — With the spring semester in the books, a number of A&M-Commerce student-athletes demonstrated what it truly means to be a student-athlete as 65 Lions were recognized with academic honors.

20 Lion student-athletes were named to the A&M-Commerce President’s Lists for the 2013 spring semester with an additional 45 named to the Dean’s List. All 11 of A&M-Commerce’s intercollegiate athletic programs are represented, led by 19 selections from football, 12 from soccer and eight from men’s cross country/track and field.

The Dean’s List includes the names of those undergraduate students, who, during the semester, have been registered for not less than 12 hours of academic work, not counting non-academic service courses, and who have maintained a minimum semester academic grade average of at least 3.25.

The President’s Honor Roll includes the names of those undergraduate students who have met the above requirements and have maintained a semester academic grade average of 4.00.

It serves as a fitting cap to a successful 2012-13 season, which saw a number of academic successes across all sports. Andrew Davis of men’s basketball highlighted the year, being named a first team Academic All-American, while four Lions (Davis, Brionna Minde, Sara Diaz and Alex Kimp) were each named the Lone Star Conference Academic Player of the Year for their respective sports.
