A&M-Commerce women’s golf team announces four signees

COMMERCE — Texas A&M University-Commerce head golf coach Dr. Louie Bledsoe today announced the addition of four women’s golfers during the 2013 early signing period. Celeste Emeott, Katy Goen, Su Son and Emily White comprise the class which will begin competing for A&M-Commerce in the fall of 2014.

“I am very excited about having Celeste, Katey, Su and Emily join us in the fall,” said Bledsoe. “All four of these student-athletes take care of business in the classroom and on the golf course. They will be joining five sophomores and one junior to make up the team. We will be green as grass, but we will be fun to watch.”

Emeott is a four year letterwinner at Frisco Liberty High School, picking up a pair of all-district honors.

She played a key role in helping the Lady Redhawks to the program’s first-ever appearance in the state tournament as Emeott becomes the first golfer in Liberty program history to play golf collegiately.

Goen is a three-time all-district selection from Wichita Falls High School who captured the 2012 District 5-4A championship.

Goen helped lead the Coyotes to the district championship in 2011 while placing second in 2012 as she was also a three-time North Texas PGA Player of the Year.

Son is a four-year letterwinner at Colleyville Heritage High School, being named the program’s MVP in 2013.

She has been a key figure in helping the Lady Panthers to five-straight district championships, placing fifth at the 2013 District 6-5A tournament.

White is also a four year letterwinner at Colleyville Heritage High School as the high school teammates will team up to compete for the Lions for the next four seasons.

Voted the Lady Panthers’ Most Improved Player in 2013, White shot a career-low 74 at the regional meet after helping Heritage continue its dominance of District 6-5A, winning five-straight district titles.

A&M-Commerce is coming off a successful fall season as the Lions notched four top-10 finishes in 2013, including a fourth-place showing at the Texas Wesleyan Hawks Creek Invitational.

The Lions had a pair of top-10 showings, led by Chantry McMahan capturing the UCO Broncho Classic individual title, with Chelsea McCoy placing ninth at the Oklahoma Intercollegiate.

The 2013-14 season resumes in March when A&M-Commerce hosts the annual Texoma Chevy Dealers Lion Intercollegiate at Tanglewood Resort in Pottsboro.

The Lions’ host tournament will be held March 10th and 11th, marking the first of six spring tournaments for A&M-Commerce.
