The Hunt County Commissioners Court intends next week to begin crafting the proposed county budget for the coming year.
The 2017/18 Hunt County budget and tax rate need to be adopted by the start of the next fiscal year on Oct. 1.
Budget workshops are scheduled to get underway at 9 a.m. June 12-13 and June 15 in the Auxiliary Courtroom, 2700 Johnson Street in Greenville.
The current $41 million budget included $37.17 million in revenues and with more than $3.87 million obtained from cash reserves and adopted a tax rate of 51.2469 cents per $100 valuation for the 2016/17 fiscal year, compared to the previous year’s rate of 53.2469 cents.
The upcoming budget will include the sale of the $24.4 million bond package approved by voters in November 2016, to pay for a list of transportation projects designed to address the growth which is approaching the county from the west, north and south.
In March the commissioners also chose to hire Public Sector Personnel Consultants to come up with plans for addressing the pay scale for county employees.
