The Commerce Economic Development Corporation and the City of Commerce are pleased to announce a new addition to the Highway 11 Industrial Park.
Commerce has made the cut for KLZ Stone Group, Inc. The company will build a 57,000 sq. ft. manufacturing and office facility just west of Industrial Drive, with over 50 jobs to be created within the first few years of operation. KLZSG will be importing raw blocks of stone from quarries overseas, to be cut into slabs and polished at the local facility. State-of-the-art machinery and equipment will be necessary to cut into the 30-ton granite blocks. Once cut and polished, these slabs will then be used to supply other distributors for residential and commercial applications.
According to owner, Nir Kamisa, this facility will be the first of its kind in the U.S., and will offer significant benefits to distributors. Although a wide array of colors and grades of stone are currently available for import into the U.S., KLZSG will now be able to help the distributor cut down on lead times, travel costs and inventory investments. KLZSG’s product will also carry the “Made in America” label. In partnership with this project, the City of Commerce received a seven hundred and fifty thousand dollar ($750,000) grant from the Texas Department of Agriculture to assist with the infrastructure for water, sewer and streets. Economic Development Director, Bonnie Hunter stated “the EDC and the City are very excited about the project and the jobs that it will create. This is a long time coming, and we look forward to the addition of KLZ Stone Group, Inc.”
