March Madness is here, and both the mens and womens basketball teams at Texas A&M University-Commerce will be headed to the postseason.
The Lion men are making their third-consecutive tournament and their fourth in five seasons, while the Lion women are making it to the playoffs for just the second time in program history.
The women's team is coming off of a 58-44 defeat in the semifinals of the Lone Star Conference Tournament. The men's team reached the LSC finals for the first time in four years, but were defeated 57-55 by West Texas A&M, in a game that saw A&M-Commerce come back from a 17-point deficit to almost win.
The teams learned their playoff fates Sunday night during the annual NCAA Division II Selection Show.
The Lion men are the fourth seed in the South Central Region, and will take on Dallas Baptist University on March 15 at 7:30 p.m. on the West Texas A&M campus.
The Lions defeated DBU by a score of 83-61 earlier this season.
The women were selected as the region's seventh seed, and are playing against Colorado Mesa on March 15 at 6 p.m. MT (7 p.m. Central) on the CMU campus in Grand Junction, Colo.
