Dodge and Casey

Dodge Brown (#0) and Casey Shields (#2) were named District Co-MVPs this week.

Two departing seniors had a final send off for their last seasons on the Commerce High School boys basketball team, being named Co-MVPs of District 13-3A along with several other All-District selections for the team.

The Tigers finished their season with a record of 34-6 after falling to eventual State Champions James Madison High School in the Regional Finals. It was their longest playoff run since being a state semifinalist in 1996, years before any of the team’s players were even born. Commerce also swept its district with a 12-0 record for the second consecutive year.

Dodge Brown and Casey Shields were named Co-MVPs of District 13-3A as announced this week. Junior guard Christian Scott was named Co-Offensive Player of the year, Jaydon Harris garnered Newcomer of the Year honors, and Head Coach Roger Brown was named the district’s Coach of the Year.

Several other players made it to All-District teams. Sammy Brown was named to the first team, while Charlie Walker got a second team nod in his first year of varsity play. Senior Colton Broeske and sophomore J’Den Wilson were Honorable Mentions.

Dodge Brown, Sammy Brown, Walker and Harris were listed as Academic All-District selections as well.
