Texas A&M University-Commerce senior sprinter Rashard Clark qualified for the finals in two events and will compete in a third along with several other Lions after day one of the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday.
The championships are being held at the Plaster Center on the campus of Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kan.
Six Lions competed across five different events Friday. To begin the day, Markaaisha Richardson could not advance in the Women's 60m Hurdles, as she was not classified due to a false start. Eboni Coby followed up that effort with a 13th place finish in the Women's 60m Dash prelims.
Minna Svaerd came up just 0.12 seconds short of qualifying for the finals in the Women's 400m Dash, finishing 10th with a time of 55.14s.
Hudson Hall finished 11th in the Men's Pole Vault, and former Commerce Tiger D'Lance Sharp finished 16th in the prelims for the Men's 200m Dash.
Clark paced the Lion field on Friday, finishing 3rd in the prelims for both the Men's 200m and 400m Dash with times of 21.15s and 47.05s, respectively.
Clark will compete in the finals of those events Saturday as well as with the Men's 4X400m Relay team, which features Clark, Sharp, Gabriel Peterson and Stadrian Taylor. In addition to competing in the Women's Pole Vault, Svaerd will join Richardson, Coby and Atiana Alexander in the Women's 4X400M Relay.
Also competing Saturday will be Sir Morgan Loudd and Josh Boateng in the Men's Triple Jump and Shot Put, respectively.
