No athletes from Commerce High School will be advancing to the State Track and Field Meet later this month, but several Tigers set personal bests and even school records last weekend at the UIL 3A Region II Meet held in Whitehouse, Texas.

For the CHS girls, Alexis Morgan just missed out on another appearance at the state meet, finishing fourth in the pole vault with a maximum height of 11’6”, which is a new all-time school record for Commerce High School. Brooklyn Matthews finished sixth in that event with a personal-best mark of 10’6”, and Payton Miller finished tied for 12th with a mark of 8’.

Allie Wittkopf came home in fourth place in the discus throw with a personal-best toss of 108’11”.

Camille Eborn and Sarah Anthraper both had personal-bests in the 1600m run and the 400m dash, respectively, but their times were not fast enough to make it out of the preliminary round of the events.

For the boys, Juan Arreguin set a new school record in the 1600m run with a time of 4:45.31 and finished in sixth place. Wesley Chavez had a time of 10:31.02 in the 3200m run, good enough for fifth place in the event.

J’Den Wilson set a personal best time in the 300m hurdles preliminary event with a 39.70, and his time of 40.78 in the finals netted him a sixth-place finish in the event.

In the team standings, the boys finished tied for 30th place with four points, while the girls finished in a tie for 21st place with nine points.
