RICHARDSON, Texas — Distance runner Niki Williams and thrower Julie Jordan were named All-Lone Star Conference performers the league office announced on Friday.

The two junior standouts were recognized for their outstanding performance at the LSC Track and Field Championships, which were held in Stephenville, Texas, at Memorial Stadium on the Tarleton State campus.

Williams recorded a total of 24 points at the conference meet. In the final day of the meet, the Fayetteville, Ark., native won the 3,000-meter run at 10:47.15, before placing third in the 5000 meter run at 18:38.35, recording a total of 16 points for the Lions on that day alone.

Williams started the meet breaking the school record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase for the second time this season with an 11:24.41 time. Her time in the 5,000 meter run was a personal best for Williams after running a flat 18:59 earlier in the year.

Jordan capped off the meet for the women field performers, breaking the school record in the hammer throw for the second time this season. On day one of the meet, she shattered the school record with a 45.82 m (150-3) toss, winning the event and recording 10 points for the Lions.

To earn all-conference status, athletes must score at least 14 points or win an event at the LSC Championships.
