The Commerce American Legion Post 1 is a memorial post named after the first Commerce casualty of World War I, Yeoman 3rd Class Bruce B. Williams, who was swept overboard the USS Montana on Dec. 7, 1917. Members of the Montana crew had a monument erected in his honor at the Rosemound cemetery in Commerce.
