If you’re looking for something to do this Saturday, Commerce has you covered.
There are multiple local events planned for this weekend, several of which are bound to get local residents in the Christmas spirit.
— Brunch with Santa will take place at the Children’s Museum, beginning at 9:30 a.m. The Commerce Kiwanis Club will serve a pancake breakfast, and the annual event will feature balloon entertainment and a cupcake Christmas train. Brunch with Santa will run until 11:30 a.m. For more information call the Children’s Museum at 903-886-6055.
— Merry Marketplace and lunch for missions will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Commerce. Individuals can shop the marketplaces for Christmas gifts. Homemade stew and cornbread will be served at a price of $3 for children and $5 for adults. The youth and children’s choir will perform at 11:30 a.m. All proceeds will benefit FUMC’s mission efforts.
— The Bois d’Arc Christmas Celebration and Parade will begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday in downtown Commerce. The event will feature live music, food, craft vendors, a fashion show, pictures with Santa and Christmas movies. Gift and food vendors will set up at 2 p.m., with a fashion show presented by Sister Babyz at 4 p.m., the first of three Christmas movies at 5:30 p.m. and the parade at 7 p.m. Visit www.commerce-chamber.com for more information.
— The Commerce Public Library’s annual Christmas Open House will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. The library will offer a warm place to wait for the parade, hot chocolate, punch and cookies, along with other “goodies.” There will be a craft time for children and Christmas carols at 5:30 p.m. Every child will received the gift of a book.
