COMMERCE — Some big changes are in store for the Commerce hospital.

John Heatherly, assistant administrator at Hunt Regional healthcare, said they are currently looking forward to building a $4 million outpatient facility in the city.

“If everything goes according to plan we hope to begin construction summer 2014, with completion sometime in spring 2015,” he said.

Heatherly said the current building would not house the new facility, but they are looking to build the new one in a more visible area of the community.

“We have several different parcels of land being considered along Highway 24,” he said.

Heatherly said the new emergency roon would benefit Commerce and the Hunt Regional Medical Center since it would allow for more people to come to the Commerce location.

According to Heatherly, a tax election is possible, but a set rate would need to be agreed upon before a bond election.

“The board will make the final determination on that issue which will be determined prior to a bond election being called,” he said.
