COMMERCE — Two Texas A&M University-Commerce staff members won awards at the Southwest Association of College & University Housing Officers (SWACUHO) Conference held Febr. 26.

Gwen Young, Assistant Director for Business Operations in the Residential Living & Learning Department, won an award for one of the top five programs presented at the conference. Also, Cat Polivoda, Graduate Hall Director of West Hall, Family Hall and New Pride, won the Bob Huss Outstanding Graduate Student Award for the tri-state SWACUHO region.

“We are all very proud of these two staff members,” said Dennis Koch, Interim Director of Residential Living & Learning. “They represent themselves, the department and our university with distinction.”

The SWACUHO regional conference brings together organizations from over 75 colleges and universities from Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas. SWACUHO focuses on the improvement and coordination of various aspects of student residence, food service, developmental programming, administration and related operations at member institutions.

“As a former member of this organization, I know these awards are highly competitive and not easily attained,” said John Kaulfus, Assistant Vice President/Dean of Students. “It is common for bigger state schools to go to this conference and leave without any awards, let alone two.”
