Miss Hunt County Pageant scheduled for Jan. 11

COMMERCE — As the old pageant saying starts, “There she is ...” But who is “she”?

That question could be answered on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, when the annual Miss Hunt County/Miss Hunt County’s Oustanding Teen Pageant takes place. The pageant is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Commerce High School cafetorium.

Contestants may now apply for the pageant, an official preliminary to the Miss America Pageant and the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Pageant.

Contestants for the Miss pageant must be between the ages of 17 to 24 and high school graduate or its equivalent; having never been married or pregnant. Teen contestants must be between the ages of 12 (as of the day of the local pageant and turn 13 by the day of the state pageant in July, 2014) and 16 (and not a senior in high school); never married or pregnant.

The pageant is divided into five areas of competition: Private interview with the panel of judges; fitness (in swimsuit for Miss and active wear for Tee), talent, evening wear and on-stage question.

The two new titleholders will receive a prize package including scholarships and the opportunity to represent the county in the Miss Texas and Miss Texas Outstanding Teen Pageants in July, 2014.

Miss Hunt County 2013 Khrista Bishop and Miss Hunt County’s Outstanding Teen 2013 Morgan Lackey will crown their successors.

The emcee for the pageant is Miss Texas 1985 (and Miss Greenville 1985) Jonna Fitzgerald.

The special guest for evening will be Miss Texas 2013 Ivana Hall. It will be a homecoming of sorts for Hall, as she previously held the title of Miss Hunt County 2011. Hall was a top 10 semifinalist in this year’s Miss America Pageant.
