Court martialed Army officer focus of Florida hiring controversy

LIVE OAK, Fla. —

Pra, 64, resigned as the head of the transit authority on Apri 21 after the agency's board chairman, Ron Williams, objected to her hiring Steele without disclosing his soiled military record to board members.

Williams said Steele's background "cast a bad light on SVTA and should have been shared with the board."

Subsquently, the board eliminated Steele's position at the agency. He told the Suwannee Democrat in a telephone interview that a letter sent to the board offering to resign was written by "someone without my authorization."

Details for this story were provided by the Suwannee Democrat of Live Oak, Fla.
