COMMERCE — The Commerce High School varsity volleyball squad is currently 16-6 on the season and is ranked 17 for Class 2A according to the Texas Girls Coaches Association state poll.

The freshmen, junior varsity and varsity squads swept Como Pickton on Sept. 7 in their first district action of the year, according to head coach Sarah Hall.

The Lady Tigers swept Grand Saline at home in 14-AA district play. Scores for the match were in favor of Commerce 25-15, 25-18, 25-16. Commerce is now 2-0 in district play.

“We are really clicking together on the court,” head Coach Sarah Fielden said. “We have some things we are working on fixing and they are determined to get it right.”

The Tigers will take on Quitman High School on Sept. 14.

“I look forward to district play because they girls work so hard,” Fielden said. “They are always pushing each other and have been great teammates.”

Members of the team are: Brianna Dugan, Laney Davidson, Dahyana Essix, Kaci Harrison, Chaney Moreland, Jordan Anderson, Chelsey Beane, Logan Talley, Bailee Mulcahy and Rachel McCloney.
