Farmersville jumped out to an early lead and never looked back in a 42-14 win over Commerce on Senior Night.
The Farmers improved to 6-3 and wrapped up second-place in District 6-2A Division I with a 4-1 mark. The Tigers dropped to 1-8 and 0-5 in district play.
Farmersville was up 28-0 at halftime after scoring 14 points in the first and second quarters.
Darrin Pennington scored on runs of 1, 26 and 48 yards, and Andrew Simons went in from a yard out.
The Farmers had 259 total yards, 237 yards rushing and 32 yards passing on nine first downs. Commerce had only 61 yards on five first down conversions.
Farmersville scored once in the third on a Cole Anderson run and prior to that Commerce’s Bran Kelley returned the Farmers’ lone punt 66 yards for the touchdown.
Both teams traded scores in the fourth quarter.
Finding the end zone for Farmersville was Simons on a 14-yard run and Commerce’s Kelley went in from short distance.
Farmersville finished the game with 428 total yards on 15 first downs.
Top gainers were Simons (136 yards), Pennington (165) and Anderson (133).
After being called up from junior varsity for the stretch run Chase Hacker had 13 yards, Keishaun Harris totaled four and Lucas Hernandez chipped in nine.
Commerce was held to 168 yards on 11 first downs. There longest gain of the night was provided by the special teams on a 66-yark kickoff return that went for a touchdown.
Kelley finished with 62 yards and Tyran Wilson totaled 54 yards.
