COMMERCE — The Texas A&M University-Commerce Athletics Department announced today that they would be holding a press conference on April 3 "regarding the women’s basketball program." The press conference will take place at 2 p.m. in the University Alumni Building on the A&M-Commerce campus.

While the specifics regarding the press conference have not been released, odds are the Lions will announce a new head coach. Former women's basketball coach Nicole Anderson resigned her position following the Lone Star Conference tournament in March. While Anderson was named the 2012-13 co-LSC coach of the year, she struggled building a winning program at A&M-Commerce, tallying a 26-106 record in five seasons.

""A national search will begin immediately," Athletic Director Ryan Ivey said following Anderson's resignation. "We are looking for a coach that can take us to the next level and win championships. Our program is one of strong tradition, with an Elite Eight appearance in 2007, so I know it is possible for us to reach that level of success."

If the hire is in line with Ivey's previous moves, the new women's basketball coach will have Lone Star coaching experience. Ivey's first two coaching hires, Colby Carthel and Richie Bruister, were both long-time LSC coaching veterans.
